I am a fourth-generation San Franciscan. In 1972, I became a Christian at the end of the Jesus Movement. I received my B.A. from San Francisco State University. The Church of the Open Door, International, of San Francisco, ordained me to the pastoral ministry in 1979. I received my ADiv in 1988, and my MDiv, in 2011, from Gateway Seminary. In the ‘70’s and ‘80’s, I was founding pastor of English, Spanish and Filipino churches in San Francisco. The Filipino church became an on-going base for church-planting in the Philippines.
I am a Board Certified Pastoral Counselor through the International Board of Christian Care. In the pastorate, I have spent hundreds of hours in counseling individuals and couples in personal, premarital and marital counseling as well as the full range of life's experiences, troubles, and changes. My wife Peggy, and I have been happily married since 1999. We both know the joys and struggles of making marriage work. My areas of special interest include premarital counseling, marriage enrichment, relationship counseling, divorce recovery, pornography addiction, and guidance for personal and spiritual growth as people confront life’s phases and transitions. |
